Now put it in all the things.
The Toyota 8AR-FTS Direct injected, Turbo 4. Its the engine in the...uh...controversially styledNX200t. Its basically a Toyota version of the VW 2.0 TSI that is in all the things (including GTI) EA211
235 hp 4800-5600 rpm
258 ft-lbs 1650-4000 rpm
efficient, super emissions compliant, light and compact.
for comparison, the latest GTI numbers are:
217 hp 6000 rpm
258 ft-lbs 1500 rpm

Could you even imagine a Corolla GT-S with GTI power? I mean...and a lot more...but think about it!

I wonder how much heavier this is than the FA20? I also wonder if this could work as a base engine in the next Taco?

Heavier than the FA20F? probably significantly heavier, FA20D? closer, but probably still heavier. would it fit? nope. Now the idea of this as a taco engine....that's interesting. I think I would prefer it to be a 2.5 with a CGI block and lower pressure for something like 250 hp and 300 ft-lbs to replace the V6.

At first I thought, Lexus/Toyota = boring but then I read the numbers, WOW!!!
Why not put this in the FR-S? or that new Scion hatch with a manual?

Well, this could work as the base engine. Then some form of a DI V6 as the top spec engine.

I like this one a bit better.

Being dropped into the IS soon. SOOOONNN.

Also, the AR family already has a 2.5 Longitudinally mounted variant. Use the 1AR-FE 2.7 liter as the base, and the 2.5 liter...lets call it 9AR-FTS for the "V6".

I would think so.

I can't tell if that is a UZ or a GZ

Sorry, GZ

Why not V12?

You know, its always in the back of my mind to buy a front cut and do a swap in the cruiser. it would fit, it makes sense for the type of power delivery and its the same basic transmission.

Cause the 2JZ has tons of potential.
Check out this 2nd gen IS V12 Supercharged swap on My.IS. It's amazing!
Best pics are in the last pages.

GTI engines are very underrated. Still, this is going to be more reliable.
And a Corolla would be the most interesting car with this powerplant to be honest.
